Video Resumés

A video resume is a short introductory video created by a candidate for employment and uploaded to the Internet for prospective employers to review. The video resume describes the individual’s skills and experience and shows their energy, enthusiasm and attitude– all important attributes in the hiring decision and ones that cannot be found on a written resume.

Although most employers have not yet used this new technology as an evaluative tool, the vast majority perceive it as innovative and are receptive to it.

Some video resumes are produced with solid backgrounds,
then finished with computerized settings,
such as the first two videos shown here.

All our video resumés are done with professional
sound and lighting for optimal results.

The following video is the first step to creating a video like the one above.
NOTICE THE DIFFERENCE.

The Below is a Short Video Clip of POOR LIGHTING AND POOR SOUND

This is NOT what you would want to send a prospective employer.

Tips to Help You Prepare a Professional Video Resume:

* For best results, use a professional video producer, not just your own camera and a blank wall behind you.
* Dress professionally in business attire, just as if you were going to an in-person interview.
* Keep your video resume short: one – three minutes.
* Look at the camera not at the desk or table below you.
* Don’t speak too fast.
* Practice what you’re going to say ahead of time.
* Start by mentioning your name (first and last).
* Focus on your professional endeavors, not your personal ones.
* Discuss why you would be a good employee and what you can do for the company that hires you.
* Thank the viewer for considering you for employment.
*  Make sure you give your full contact information at the end of the video
* Include a link to your video resume in your paper/online resume.
* Include your video resume or a link to it in your professional profiles on career networking sites like MyWorkster, Jobster or LinkedIn.

Don’t mix your personal life with your professional one. If you have information on your MySpace or Facebook page that you’d prefer employers don’t see, don’t link your video resume.
