Video Pre-Production

* Set initial planning/consultation meeting…

…with Bob Perl, Internet Video Producers. This meeting saves you time, answers your questions, and paves the way for a smooth and successful production process.

Prior to our consultation, please consider the answers to the following questions:

(Again, this saves time and helps the production process.)

.

* What is the purpose of the video? What is the budget for the production? Is there a time-frame for completion?

.

* Identify target market(s): What problem or situation does the video address? Who will be watching the video? What action do you want the viewer to take?

.

* Identify who you are and what solutions you offer for the viewers’ problem or situation. This captures your viewers’ interest and establishes your credibility and expertise.

.

* Visualize the desired end result of the video. From the answers, formulate ideas and concepts for the video. Refine these ideas and concepts into an outline, script and storyboard.

.

* Determine the scale of the production. What personnel and products will shown in the video? What locations and backgrounds will be used to minimize or eliminate distractions? Maximum suggested length of your video should not exceed two (2) minutes.

.

Video Production Day

First we review your finished script, make any final revisions and make sure that proper keywords are included to help in ranking the video in search engines.

Next, we check the location background for any distractions and set up any necessary props. The lighting is checked and set for maximum effectiveness and to highlight the presenter and products.

The camera and monitor is then set up so video shots and angles can be set and framed properly. The microphones are then checked for balance and clarity and a sound check is conducted to ensure that there is no interference or ambient noise.

Then, we begin the rehearsal. We make adjustments for sound, lighting and shot angles and make sure that the script keywords are delivered in the final take. It may take several run-throughs with the presenter to smooth out all the kinks, but that is normal.

Once the on-camera presenter is comfortable with the script and the product(s) to be presented, we go through at least three full beginning to end takes. Depending on the length of the script, the presentation may be done in segments. The presentation is repeated on-camera until everyone is satisfied with the results.

Post Production

In post-production, we first review the original content, then load (capture) it into the timeline of the digital edit computer. We check sound levels and color balance and make any necessary corrections or modifications.

Next, we use computer editing software to cut the content into scenes and assemble them in the desired order. We add titles, graphics and any music bed or voice-overs desired. We then create a review copy for client approval.

Finally, when approved by the client, we encode the finished edited video into several different file formats for the webmaster to upload to the website.
